School District of Random Lake – In Fall, School District of Random Lake (RLSD) launched a capital campaign to support the transformation of the existing high school library media center into the Inquiry and Learning Center (ILC). This state-of-the-art facility will serve students as well as the community in offering exciting new collaboration opportunities. It will also support our mission of “providing tomorrow’s leaders with a distinct advantage”.
Traditionally, libraries have been perceived as repositories for books and places for quiet study. Today’s library media centers have transformed into central locations for community gatherings, as well as cultural and educational programming. The ILC will help provide RLSD with a competitive advantage. The new facility will be remodeled with more flexible meeting spaces and a satellite learning room sponsored by Lakeshore Technical College, which is designed to host college courses while also being available for use for training by our local employers.
The future ILC will not only provide a facility for research and educational needs, but also for social and community connections. Spaces in the new ILC will function in a variety of ways and engage a wide audience of patrons. The new ILC will act as a community gathering space and a valuable resource for materials, computers and technology, learning labs, study spaces, rentable facilities, and more.
The concept drawings of the ILC will give our community a $1 million dollar facility. The Bruce Krier Charitable Foundation has generously agreed to support the project with a challenge grant where every dollar raised will be matched by the Foundation up to $500,000. With our most recent pledges, we have $260,500 and are now adding the Commerce State Bank Path Challenge.
We now turn to you and ask for your support in this challenge to help provide the last twenty percent (20%) of the financial resources necessary to meet our capital campaign goal. There are many opportunities for you to help support the ILC project, on both a large or small scale. Sponsorship levels range from the exterior naming rights level of $500,000 to the Community Path Level of $100 for a brick with your name.
One of the three tenets for RLSD is to make Strong Community Connections. It is our hope that your investment in this project will make our new learning space a true public-private investment in the local school district and our community. We look forward to you joining us on this journey.
