After 12 years of planning and construction, the Weeping Water Academy Social Hall & Thomas W. Meeske Genealogy Center is officially open and available for tours and facility rental. Constructed in 1871 in early Gothic Revival architecture, the building that once served as a Congregational church, Weeping Water Academy classrooms, and most recently the city library, is on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Weeping Water Historic District. The memorial brick garden has also been installed near the entrance.

It’s not too late to add a brick! The historical society once again invites the public to help pave the way for preservation and leave a lasting legacy by purchasing an engraved brick to be installed near the building’s entrance. Have a brick engraved to honor a special person or group, or provide a lasting memory to a loved one. Purchase of bricks will help fund ongoing expenses associated with upkeep and preservation of the building.
